Academy Information

Broadening horizons, reaching for the moon!

We are a new state-funded primary preparatory school, which opened in September 2014 for reception pupils.

In September 2016 we moved into our brand new, purpose-built school building, which is located on the Malcolm Arnold Academy Campus. To keep up to date with everything going on in our school, please contact the office or follow us on Twitter @MAPrepSchool

Our school is committed to ensuring that our children not only excel in the classroom, but also gain the skills and passions to enable them to be successful long into their futures.

We focus on positive behaviour management systems and promote the values we would like our children to embody through our MAPS Code of Conduct.

Our values underpin all we do:

  • Aspiration
  • Ambition
  • Respect
  • Courage

We are situated next door to Malcolm Arnold Academy who are also part of the David Ross Education Trust and Peterborough Diocese.

this allows for a very easy transition. We ensure that links between both schools are strong to support with pupil transition to Secondary School. This familiarity with the secondary setting supports with confidence and an awareness of the expectations upon them in their next educational step.

We are a Church of England School

Our House System

We have a fantastic house system that allows for great team experiences, comradery and competition.

We have four houses all named after explorers to match our philosophies of 'Broadening Horizons'.

Our four house teams are:

  • MacArthur
  • Armstrong
  • Piccard
  • Scott

The children are placed into these houses in Reception and stay in the same house throughout their time at MAPS. We ensure siblings are placed into the same house to foster the sense of belonging to a school and family community. Children join together in houses for a range of activities and competitions throughout the year.
